Islamabad: After Rawalpindi, the dengue fever outbreak has started hitting the population severely in the federal capital from where a total of 1,472 patients have so far been confirmed positive for the infection though to date, the infection has claimed no life from Islamabad Capital Territory.
Data collected by ‘The News’ on Friday has revealed that the number of dengue fever cases being confirmed positive from both the rural and the urban areas of the federal capital is continuously on the rise belying tall claims made repeatedly by the concerned government authorities.
Data reveals that out of a total of 1,472 dengue fever cases reported from ICT this year, as many as 647 have been reported in the last one week recording an average of over 92 cases per day.
To date, a total of 882 patients have tested positive for dengue fever from rural areas of Islamabad while 590 from urban areas of the federal capital. In the last 24 hours, as many as 68 confirmed cases of dengue fever have been reported from ICT including 36 from rural areas and 32 from urban areas. It is important that according to the district health office Islamabad, apart from 1,472 cases, as many as 42 patients belonging to other districts of the country have been registered in Islamabad so far.
Data provided by the district health office reveals that the union councils more affected by the dengue fever outbreak in rural areas of Islamabad include Koral, Tarlai, Rawat, Tarnol, Alipur, Sohan, Sihala, Bara Kahu and Kurri. The worst affected areas include Koral, Tarlai, and Rawat from where a total of 480, 126 and 114 dengue fever patients have already been reported respectively.
It is alarming that confirmed dengue fever cases have so far been reported from as many as 39 sectors in urban areas of the federal capital though most of the dengue fever cases have so far been reported from sectors including H-13, G-13, E-11, I-14, G-7, G-10, F-6, G-9, G-11, I-10, G-6, G-8 and G-15 with reporting of over 10 cases. The worst affected sectors include H-13, G-13 and E-1 from where as many as 180, 61 and 33 confirmed patients have been reported respectively.
