There is a dire need for critical thinking to analyze information in a clear, rational and objective way. Moreover, this skill assists in decision-making and problem-solving. Furthermore, critical thinking prevents bias and encourages one to think rationally and judge reasonably instead of believing misconceptions. Unfortunately, there is a lack of critical thinking in our society. People often make false judgments about prevailing information. They do not research or evaluate the evidence behind the information and this misinformation leads to bias. These misinformed opinions create hurdles and alienate people from society.

The lack of critical thinking can be gauged through the CSS results. Every year, around 35,000 aspirants appear for the CSS but only a few hundred pass the written portion. The government should pay urgent attention to this issue and promote critical thinking in education.
