ISLAMABAD: All the lawyers organisations of Islamabad, while forging unity against the proposed constitutional amendments, have announced to convene the All Pakistan Lawyers Convention (APLC) on October 7.
All the representative bar associations, including Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA), Islamabad District Bar Association (IBA) and Islamabad Bar Council (IBC), while rejecting the proposed constitutional package, have announced to put up resistance.
Aleem Abbasi of Islamabad Bar Council, while addressing a joint press conference along with other office bearers, made this announcement on Thursday.
All the three representative bar associations rejected the constitutional package besides announcing to hold the Pakistan Lawyers convention on October 7 against the constitutional package.
Aleem Abbasi said, “We not only reject it but will also put up resistance to stop them. Amendments are being made based on specific political parties and persons.”
Aleem Abbasi said following the implementation of these amendments, SC judges will have no more powers than a sessions judge. He said that the letter from 6 judges was not acceptable and now amendments were being made to keep these judges aside.
The three lawyer organizations called upon the Supreme Court Bar Association to withdraw the 63A review petition.
