ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior on Thursday deferred the consideration of six bills till the next meeting.
The six bills include three government bills and as many private members bills.
The meeting of the NA panel on Interior was held with Chairman Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz in the chair at the Parliament House on Thursday.
The government bills, deferred till next meeting, include the Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill, 2024 (Section 462O), the Pakistan Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2024 and the Pakistan Coast Guard (Amendment) Bill, 2024 (Section 14A), while the private members bills, deferred by the committee include the West Pakistan Maintenance of Public Order (Repeal) Bill, 2024, moved by MNA Sahibzada Sibghatullah, the Acid Burn Crime Bill, 2024, moved by Dr Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto, and the Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill, 2024 (Section 489F), moved by MNA Sohail Sultan.
The Islamabad’s deputy commissioner briefed the committee on the imposition of heavy fines on unregistered vehicles. The committee decided to invite representatives of the Motorcar Dealers Association to the next meeting to address their concerns and grievances.
The Islamabad’s deputy commissioner and commissioner also briefed the committee on the preparation of the records of rights for 52 revenue estates located on the boundary line between Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The committee was informed that 13 partial Mauzas have been received by the ICT administration, while the revenue record of 11 partial revenue estates of ICT has been handed over to the Rawalpindi administration. Additionally, the revenue record of 28 partial revenue estates, currently with the Rawalpindi administration, remains unresolved.
The committee directed that the issue of the remaining Mauzas be resolved within one week and a report be submitted accordingly.
The member Planning & Engineering of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Islamabad, briefed the committee regarding the illegal and unauthorised housing scheme “North Ridge” in Zone-III, Islamabad.
The committee directed the CDA provide a copy of the summary submitted to the cabinet for the approval of sub-zoning. Additionally, the CDA was also instructed to refrain from conducting any further operations in Zone-III until a decision is made in the next meeting.
The FIA’s director briefed the committee regarding the agenda item on the human smuggling network uncovered by the agency. The committee was informed that the FIA had conducted searches and gathered information from all its offices, but no such cases related to the agenda were found.
The issue of the alleged fake degree of the president of the Pakistan Nursing & Midwifery Council (PN&MC) and the actions taken by the FIA were discussed during the meeting.
The concerned officer of the FIA briefed the committee on the progress of the investigation. The committee directed the FIA to complete the investigation promptly and submit a detailed report forthwith.
