Operation launched against encroachments in Charsadda

PESHAWAR: The district administration has launched a mega operation to remove encroachments from key highways, markets and intersections in Charsadda to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

The operation was initiated following directives from the provincial government during a meeting chaired by Commissioner, Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mahsud.“This operation is crucial for restoring the flow of traffic and easing mobility for both motorists and pedestrians. We are fully committed to enhancing public facilities across Charsadda,” said Riaz Mahsud.

He emphasized the importance of removing obstructions that have long hindered daily commutes and created congestion in busy areas.The meeting, which focused on resolving pressing issues in the district, was attended by Deputy Commissioner Charsadda Qaiser Khan, Executive Engineer Irrigation Mohammad Manan, SP Headquarters Sajjad Ahmed, Director Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority Sohail Idrees and other officials.

During the meeting, Commissioner Riaz Mahsud issued orders to clear encroachments from main roads and markets, including Ghani Khan Road, Utmanzai Road, Tangi Road, Charsadda Peshawar Road, and Canal Road in Shabqadar. Immediate repairs of these roads were also instructed to ensure the uninterrupted flow of traffic. Additionally, the closure of unnecessary U-turns was mandated to address key traffic bottlenecks.

“We are seizing this opportunity to clear encroachments along rivers and waterways while the water levels are low due to seasonal changes,’ said Riaz Mahsud. He stressed that the operation will not only improve traffic conditions but also enhance public safety in areas vulnerable to flooding. The commissioner directed the administrative officers to maintain close coordination with relevant departments to ensure the swift execution of these initiatives.
