LAHORE: The Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF) has issued a strong statement reaffirming its position as the sole legitimate governing body for cycling in Pakistan. Led by President Syed Azhar Ali Shah, the PCF emphasised its recognition by both the International Cycling Union (UCI) and the Asia Cycling Confederation.

In message to The News, Azhar stated that the PCF reasserted its status as the only official cycling authority in Pakistan. “The federation highlighted its 2015 decision to impose a lifetime ban on Idrees Haider Khwaja for actions deemed detrimental to the sport.

The PCF expressed alarm over the alleged involvement of the Pakistan Olympic Association in establishing a fraudulent cycling federation. To combat misrepresentation, the PCF has implemented a specific identification system for legitimate members. The federation has reported these fraudulent activities to several international bodies, including the International Olympic Committee, UCI, Asia Cycling Confederation, and the Pakistan Sports Board,” stated the message.
