ISLAMABAD: Fraudsters attempt to obtain bank account details and personal information through e-mail or text messages are low in Pakistan, but the trend is high globally.

This transpired through a survey conducted by Gallup Pakistan and World Wide Independent Network in 39 countries of the world.

According to the survey, 3 percent of Pakistanis faced phishing scams as fraudsters tried to get email accounts and private information. Some 97 percent reported not receiving any emails.

Fraudsters appear to be more active globally, according to the survey. Some 34 percent of respondents from 39 countries have experienced attempts to obtain bank account and private information

via email, while 11 percent in the Middle East are concerned about phishing scammers.

In the survey, 2 percent Pakistanis also complained about private data being leaked on the Internet, but 98 percent said they were safe from it.
