LAHORE: The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) and Pak Mission Society Wednesday joined hands to conduct public awareness activities aimed at promoting solid waste management practices among young students.
The event was held under the Child Driven Climate Action Program at Greater Iqbal Park and over 200 students from both government and private schools attended it. The event featured a clean-up drive and a puppet show.
Through engaging performances and hands-on activities, the students learned about the significance of proper waste disposal and environmental conservation. The puppet show conveyed an impactful message encouraging the students to take responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean. In a symbolic gesture, the students ingrained trees in the park at the conclusion of the event and participated in a public awareness walk to further highlight the importance of environmental sustainability.
A significant number of LWMC workers, teachers, and parents attended the event, demonstrating strong support for the waste management initiative. Their involvement highlighted the collective responsibility of the community in fostering environmental awareness and sustainable practices.
LWMC Chief Executive Officer Babar Sahib Din emphasised the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges. He said our students are our assets and we all have a role to play in creating a healthy environment and ensuring a cleaner climate for them.
