PARACHINAR: The Pak-Afghan Kharlachi border point reopened for trade after being closed for nine days following the clashes between the rival tribes over a piece of disputed land and construction of trenches in the Kurram tribal district.
The convoys have resumed movement on the Parachinar-Peshawar main highway.Police sources and the district administration said that clashes had erupted between tribes in District Kurram over the construction of bunkers, which led to the closure of the Pak-Afghan Kharlachi border point on September 21.
After the district administration, elders, forces, and a tribal jirga facilitated a ceasefire between the parties, traffic has now resumed on the highways through convoys, and the Kharlachi border point has been reopened for trade after nine days, allowing trade activities to restart at the PakAfghan border.Eyewitnesses reported that a large number of vehicles loaded with goods were waiting on both sides of the border as the border point reopened.
