Visually impaired person injured as police ‘manhandle’ protesters

LAHORE: Police manhandled visually impaired persons who were protesting for the acceptance of their demands on Mall Road on Tuesday.

One of the protesters identified as Muhammad Mushtaq, son of Hakim Ali, sustained minor injuries due to the actions taken by the police. The injured protester was treated by a rescue team. However, Punjab Police spokesperson stated that no violence was committed against the protesters by the police. He said that the police encountered physical altercations and resistance from the protesting individuals and were taking necessary measures to maintain order.

The spokesperson added that several police officers were injured during the protest. The injured officers include Nauman Maqsood from Civil Lines, Shehryar from ARF Qurban Lines, Tahir from ARF Special Squad Saggian, Nauman Ali from Civil Lines, Sufyan from ARF, Arsalan from ARF, Constable Emmanuel from ARF, Daniyal Ahmed from ARF, Aziz from ARF and Lytton Road SHO.
