Questions about the fairness and credibility of the MDCAT have arisen once again. The previous year’s MDCAT test in Sindh was declared null and void by the high court due to negligence in conducting the test. The paper or its key was allegedly sold out last year. A few select candidates were given the opportunity to receive and memorize the paper before taking the test. According to reports, this year, the paper was leaked again. Considering the previous records of MDCAT tests in Sindh, these allegations seem plausible. The recurring issues with medical tests threaten Pakistan’s reputation globally. It degrades the image of Pakistani doctors abroad. The country has already been belittled for its allegedly bogus pilots’ certificates. It seems that this problem will spread to the medical field as well.
Therefore, it is high time the concerned authorities provide transparent administration in conducting the test. The government must conduct a thorough investigation into the charges of paper leaks and other forms of malpractice. Failure to address this issue can lead to further degradation of confidence in government institutions.
