ISLAMABAD: The General Council/Executive Committee of the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) has reposed full confidence in the federation’s officials, rejecting the one-sided ban imposed on them.
The meeting that was attended by all the units/members of the PBF expressed disappointment and rejected the unilateral baseless report related to a boxer, who travelled to Italy for Olympic qualifiers on official passport having valid visa and NOC of his parent department.
The House noted with grave concern that the report violated basic legal principles and fundamental rights. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Muhammad Khalid Mahmood, president of the federation.
The forum applauded Ayesha Mumtaz for securing bronze medal in the ASBC Asian Junior (Boys and Girls) and School (Boys and Girls) Boxing Championship 2024 in Abu Dhabi. The PBF awarded the boxer Rs100,000 for this commendable performance and also appreciated Army’s boxer for fantastic performance. The members also thanked the Army for organising 4th Inter-Department National Elite Men/Women Boxing Championship 2024 at Abbottabad in a befitting manner.
The House also ratified the amendments in the constitution of the Pakistan Boxing Federation that were principally agreed to during the last General Council meeting of the federation. The audit report for the fiscal year 2023-2024 was also approved.
The executive committee also confirmed election of Begum Ishrat Ashraf as the chairperson of the Pakistan Boxing Federation. She thanked the House and assured her complete support. The chair also updated the members on the ongoing developments and role of the federation in securing game of boxing as an Olympic sport. The members reiterated that all the efforts should be made to keep boxing in Olympic Games by all means.
