LAHORE:Acting Central President of Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) Anwaar-ul-Haq and other leaders, including Rana Liaquat have said that the protest movement of the Grand Teachers Alliance is peaceful, but the government action is creating agitation among the teachers.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the PTU leaders said that teachers could not be intimidated by show-cause notices, suspensions and threats. They said that officers of the School Education Department were adopting an anti-teacher attitude, which was strongly condemned by the teachers and added they would continue their educational boycott. They criticised the govt for what they termed poor education reforms, and expressed concerns over transfer policy, new school timings and handing over of educational institutions to private management and added unjustified transfers had created insecurity among teachers. The PTU demanded the CM ensure compliance with her promises. It observed that notification of leave encashment as promised should be issued.
