Liverpool-born actor David Morrissey is reflecting on his career as he marks Everyman theatre's 60th anniversary.
The Dr. Who star expressed heartfelt gratitude to the theatre, which opened on September 25, 1964, for 'changing his life' and providing a lifetime of opportunities.
The same theatre is widely known for launching the careers of many legendary actors, including Bill Nighy, Julie Walters, Jonathan Pryce and Pete Postlethwaite.
The Sherwood alum said the theatre meant “everything” to him as it moves forward with an agenda to support young artists and talent across the country.
Recounting an instance from the past, the actor revealed that it was his cousin who first introduced him to Everyman.
He recalled, "The youth theatre took us seriously as young people and encouraged us to have our creative life."
Morrissey shared that seeing A-listers like Jim Broadbent and Anton Lesser in the theatre’s foyer was nothing less than a “wow moment,” inspiring him further.
Sharing a memory on the special occasion, he said, "They were all absolutely kind to me, nobody told me where to go or to get lost.”
In addition, the actor is gearing up for his return to the theatre, which is scheduled on October 24.
