Pakistan's national language, Urdu, is in decline. English has become the darling of our conversation, leaving Urdu in the darkness. But what's the point of independence if we cannot even preserve our national language? Our forefathers fought for Urdu's recognition; now it's our turn to safeguard it.
Schools, once bastions of Urdu, now neglect its teaching. The government must step up to save Urdu. We need education reforms that promote Urdu and leaders who champion our national language.
