Amendment to Rule 122 of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in NA approved

ISLAMABAD: The Standing Committee of the National Assembly on Rules of Procedure and Privileges on Friday approved the amendment in the Rule 122 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of National Assembly 2007, under which the Finance bill will now be referred to the NA Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue and the same, after its examination, will be discussed by the National Assembly along with the report of the committee.

The meeting of the NA Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges was held with its Chairman Muhammad Afzal in the chair at the Parliament House on Friday.

At the outset, the committee considered the amendment to the Rule 122 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007, moved by MNA Syed Naveed Qamar, aiming that the Finance bill shall be referred to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue and the report of the committee examining the Finance bill shall also be laid in the house within 15 days of the introduction of the bill.

After detailed deliberations, the committee unanimously approved the said amendment.

The committee appointed a sub-committee under the convenership of MNA Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon to examine the amendments moved by MNA Dr Nafisa Shah regarding the insertion of new Rule 295 and Rule 296 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007.

The sub-committee comprises MNAs Mir Ghulam Ali Talpur, Khawaja Izharul Hassan, Malik Muhammad Aamir Dogar.

The sub-committee will submit its report within 30 days to the standing committee for its final consideration.
