Ex-int’l cricketer Asim Khan laid to rest

LAHORE:Pakistan-born former Dutch cricketer and sports analyst Asim Khan, who passed away in Lahore on September 25 due to a cardiac arrest, was laid to rest in the Miani Sahib graveyard on Friday. He was 62.

His funeral prayers were held at Jamia Naeemia after Juma prayers. Former Test captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari, sports physician Dr. Asad Abbas, several cricketers, journalists, police officers, and many people from various walks of life attended the funeral. Quran Khwani for him will be held after the Asr prayers at his residence near Garhi Shahu on Sept 28 (today). Asim represented the Netherlands in 51 int’l matches between 1994 and 2002, including two ICC Trophy tournaments in 1997 and 2001. He also served as the assistant coach of the Netherlands U-19 cricket team.
