Aleem Dar to retire after current domestic season

LAHORE: Aleem Dar, one of the world’s most respected and revered cricket umpires, has confirmed his retirement at the end of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s 2024-25 domestic season, having served nearly a quarter of a century.

He is a three-time David Shepherd Trophy winner for ICC Umpire of the Year (2009-2011). It has been learnt that the PCB has offered him chair of the board’s umpiring and refereeing department. He has sought some time to think over it.

Aleem Dar had a playing career of 17 first-class and 18 List-A matches between 1986 and 1998. His first assignment as a first-class umpire was in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy during the 1998-99 season. He became a member of the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires in 2003.
