Islamabad:Coordinator to Prime Minister on Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam said that Pakistan is paying a huge cost due to adverse impacts of climate change on various socioeconomic sector, particularly agriculture, energy and water and addressing these negative fallout is not possible without and industrial and private sector’s support in every possible form.
“As the impacts of human-caused climate change are becoming increasingly evident, the private sector in Pakistan can play a pivotal role in reducing climate change-causing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable business practices,” PM’s climate aide told the inaugural ceremony of a 120KV solar project at a private beverage company in the garrison city of Rawalpindi. Ms Alam said businesses across various industries in the country had started to realise their responsibility to cut the sector carbon emission but they urgently needed to step up their efforts to contribute to a greener future of the country. The PM’s aide said green initiatives were of immense importance economically, environmentally and socially. She said the government would support such moves by the private sector.
