15 die on roadin Punjab in 24 hours

LAHORE:At least 15 people died, whereas 1,431 were injured in 1,335 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Out of these, 685 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 746 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by the Rescue medical teams.

The majority (77%) of these incidents involved motorbikes, underscoring the critical need for effective enforcement of traffic laws and lane discipline to curb the rising number of road accidents. Furthermore, the analysis showed those 746 drivers, 64 underage drivers, 161 pedestrians, and 539 passengers were among the victims of road traffic crashes. The statistics showed that 234 road accidents were reported in Lahore, which affected 269 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by Faisalabad 103 in with 113 victims and at third Multan with 95 road accidents and 88 victims. The details further revealed that 1,446 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 1,161 males & 285 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 264 were under 18 years of age, 796 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 386 victims were reported above 40 years of age.
