LAHORE:A meeting was held at Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) under the chairmanship of Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique here on Monday.
MPA and LDA Vice Chairman Murghub Ahmed, MS Dr Shoaib Aslam and Nosheen from PITB and other officers participated in the meeting. The health minister during the meeting reviewed various measures for the convenience of patients coming to Punjab Institute of Cardiology.
The officers concerned gave a briefing in this regard. Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said measures would be taken for the convenience of patients in PIC OPD and other departments, including emergency. PITB has been directed to conduct modern IT training of consultants. An increase in PIC emergency counters is also being considered. The delivery system of medicines for heart patients is also being improved. The queue management system in the PIC needs to be fully functional.
Role of women in medicine department highlighted
Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) organised a seminar on the topic of ‘Importance of Women in the Department of Medicine’ on Monday. International Cardiologist and President of the Royal College of Physicians, London, Dr Sarah Clarke and Dr Sebastian Alexander were guests of honour. Dr Asad Rahim, Prof Samina Ghaznavi, Dr Asma Ahmed, Dr Aftab Chaudhry and Dr Javed Kiyani also attended the seminar.
Principal Prof Dr Abdul Hameed, Registrar Prof M Nadeem, Deans Prof Ayesha Malik, Prof Bilquis Shabbir, Prof Aliya Zahid, Prof Naveed Akbar Hotiana, Prof Shamila Ejaz Munir, heads of all departments, faculty members, and a large number of postgraduate and undergraduate students participated in the seminar.
FJMU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Masood Gondal welcomed the guests along with the faculty. He delivered a brief presentation and highlighted the achievements of Fatima Jinnah Medical University in recent years. He informed that Prof Kamran Khalid Khawaja received the Best University Teacher Award from the Higher Education Commission and Fatima Jinnah Alumni Association offered unparalleled services in flood-affected areas. He said, besides this, Telemedicine Department was established during the corona pandemic, and the Director of the Quality Enhancement Cell Prof Dr Bilquis Shabbir was awarded the Presidential Medal for Excellence.
Dr Sarah Clark gave a detailed lecture on the importance of women in the field of medicine. She said that you can do whatever you want, so improve your creative intelligence, build your professional relationships, increase your self-confidence and self-esteem. She advised the participants always beware of the influence of social media and do not let it affect you.
Dr Asma Ahmed delivered a comprehensive lecture on "Significance of Women in the Department of Medicine in Pakistan, Navigating Challenges and Seizing Opportunities." Dr Asad Rahim presented a male perspective on women in the field of medicine. Dr Sebastian Alexander gave a lecture on women's health care in the UK.
Prof Bilquis Shabbir emphasised on moderation during the professional responsibilities of women. Prof Samina Ghaznavi delivered a detailed lecture on the rights of women in the workplace from an Islamic perspective. A question and answer session was also held on the occasion. Later, Prof Dr Khalid Masood Gondal presented the honorary shield and University History Book to Prof Dr Sarah Clarke.
