This letter refers to the article ‘An assault on the constitution’ (September 19, 2024) by Shafqat Mahmood. The government’s proposed constitutional amendments have sparked political uncertainty and instability. Judicial interference and an institutional tug-of-war might escalate risks, deter investors and partners, and potentially plunge Pakistan into financial crisis.
Past governments have left the economy in shambles. To break this cycle, stakeholders must establish a dialogue framework to tackle stability challenges.
