PESHAWAR: Office-bearers of the Action Committee for the Blind Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday demanded the chief minister to enforce the Disability Act.

Speaking at a press conference, the association representing the blind and disabled people demanded the allocation of a 5 percent quota for disabled individuals and a two percent quota for blind persons.

The office-bearers including Muhammad Asif, the President of the Blind Rights Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and General Secretary Ikram Khan and others asked the government to fill out vacancies under the 2 percent quota, giving preference to literate blind individuals.

They urged the introduction of assistance cards, stipends, or interest-free loans for illiterate or elderly blind persons as was being provided in Punjab.The association called for free education in all universities and fee waivers for blind and disabled persons.
