QUETTA: More than 50 students, along with two facilitators, were arrested for cheating during the MDCAT medical college entry test in Quetta. Devices used for cheating were recovered, and a case was registered.
According to details, the MDCAT exam for medical college admissions across the country was conducted on Sunday at the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering, and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) in Quetta. During the test, security forces and the administration received information that some candidates were attempting to cheat using Bluetooth devices. Upon inspection at the exam centers, more than 50 students were arrested.
Bolan Medical University Vice Chancellor Shabbir Lehri, along with police and security sources, confirmed that Bluetooth devices were found on the arrested candidates. These devices were being used to solve the exam papers with assistance from two individuals in Quetta and a retired government employee from the Federal Public Service Commission in Islamabad.
Most of the arrested candidates were from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with a few from Quetta. The students had registered in Quetta specifically to cheat more easily. Sources also revealed that the devices used for cheating were sold to the candidates for prices ranging from Rs30,000 to Rs100,000. The police are continuing their investigation into the arrested individuals.
