Mystery of Rs4.1 million robbery resolved in Nowshera

NOWSHERA: The police claimed to have resolved the mystery of Rs4.1 million and other valuable items in Joharabad locality in Nowshera Kalaan on Sunday.

Talking to reporters, Station House Officer, Nowshera Kalaan, Shahid Khan said that the police swung into action after one Kifayat reported that robbers had taken away Rs1.1 million cash, 12 tolas of gold, and a mobile phone.

He said that a team headed by him launched an investigation and checked CCTV footage from the area but failed to find any clue to crime.He said that the police then grilled Kifayat about any recent disputes between him and his wife. Kifayat revealed that he had expressed his intention to contract a second wife, which had caused tension in their family.

Following this lead, the SHO said that the police questioned Yasmeen, who eventually confessed to have staged the robbery with the help of her brother, a resident of Changarabad in Nowshera.

Yasmeen explained that she was disappointed in her husband’s plans for a second marriage and conspired to steal the family’s valuables in a bid to punish her husband.The SHO said that she had stolen Rs1.1 million cash, five tolas of gold from her own room, and seven tolas from the rooms of her brothers-in-law, Asad Khan and Umar Khan.

Following the lead, the police raided Yasmeen’s brother Fayaz’s home, and recovered the stolen cash, gold, and the mobile phone. Fayaz also admitted to his involvement in the plot.Both Yasmeen and her brother Fayaz have been taken into custody for further legal proceedings.
