PHC judge orders release of 54 prisoners

SWABI: Senior Puisne Judge of the Peshawar High Court, Justice Ijaz Anwar, visited sub jails in Swabi and Nowshera districts, and ordered the release of 54 prisoners.

The judge, accompanied by PHC Registrar Barrister Ikhtiar Khan, was received by district and sessions judges, additional district and sessions judges, and senior civil judges.

During the visit, Justice Anwar inspected the jail facilities, including the buildings, staff, and inmate conditions. He visited various sections and barracks, interacting with inmates to hear their concerns regarding the prison environment and pending court cases.

As a result of the visit, 36 prisoners from Sub Jail Swabi and 18 from Sub Jail Nowshera, involved in minor offenses, were released.

Justice Anwar also briefly toured the district courts of Swabi and Nowshera, where he met judicial officers and commended their efficient case management. He engaged in informal discussions with the officers and took the opportunity to interact with litigants present at the courts.
