Peshawar uplift projects nearing completion

PESHAWAR: The chief minister is expected to inaugurate several uplift projects in the coming month in the province capital.The projects were launched under an initiative to improve the infrastructure in the provincial capital.

The Phase-II of the Peshawar Uplift Programme is making progress with multiple infrastructure and beautification projects that are nearing completion ahead of the October 20 deadline.At a review meeting, Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mahsud lauded the provincial government for the timely release of funds.

He said that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, along with Advisor to Finance Muzammil Aslam, played a key role in pushing forward these developments.The construction of a 6-kilometer jogging and cycling track in Hayatabad, a first for the city, is one of the projects which will provide much-needed recreational facilities to residents.

Other significant developments included the renovation and construction of Peshawar Zoo Road, the beautification of University Road at Iqra Chowk and Park Avenue Island, and the construction of a Walkway Town Market.

At Peshawar University, extensive renovations have upgraded the campus with repaired roads, new pavements, public restrooms, and modern parking facilities. Adjacent to the university, Jinnah College for Women has undergone improvements such as ground paving and general repairs.

The Government Husnain Sharif Higher Secondary School No. 1 in Peshawar City has been renovated with an emphasis on preserving its historical significance.Restoration work has been undertaken at the Agriculture Training Institute, contributing to the broader enhancement of the city’s educational and cultural landscape.

Project Engineer Muhammad Adeel briefed the meeting on the status of the projects and said many schemes were in the final stage of completion.The commissioner said the projects would help restore Peshawar’s historical significance.“These developments will transform Peshawar, blending modern infrastructure with our city’s rich historical heritage,” he said.
