LAHORE:Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq chaired a meeting at Civil Secretariat to develop an app for ‘Suthra Punjab Programme’ of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
Local Government Secretary Shakeel Ahmed Mian participated through a video link while Special Secretary Aasia Gull and Additional Secretary Maria Tariq also attended the meeting. PITB representative briefed the meeting on the salient features of the app.
The minister said that the proposed app would not only help the people to access different cleaning mechanisms but they would also be able to register their feedback and complaints. He expressed his satisfaction that the attendance of the field staff and the action on the citizens’ complaints would also be possible. Each supervisor will update the staff schedule of his area weekly, he said.
Zeeshan Rafiq indicated that the work of every waste management company would increase after the sanitation system is outsourced. Waste management companies will now have to monitor down to the tehsil level, he added. During the meeting, it was decided to form coordination committees at district and tehsil levels. The deputy commissioner concerned in the district and assistant commissioner at the tehsil will be the in-charge of the committees.
The minister said that local government officers, waste management companies and contractors would get representation in the proposed committees. He directed that contractors should be given access to online data so that they can redress the complaints of citizens. Zeeshan Rafiq said that all the details would be updated on the dashboard at the provincial and divisional levels. On this occasion, the survey conducted across Punjab by a bank and an NGO was also reviewed. The survey will include details of houses, business centres and factories.
