LAHORE:Lahore traffic police on Thursday has initiated an awareness and warning campaign focused on lane discipline, stop lines, and zebra crossings in a bid to ensure more organised traffic in the city.
Separate lanes for motorcyclists and other slow-moving vehicles were introduced in the campaign that started on Mall Road. Traffic wardens have been deployed and cones have been placed along the road to reinforce the importance of lane discipline. A total of 40 traffic wardens, 10 senior wardens, and an education team have been stationed to ensure compliance.
CTO Lahore Ammara Athar emphasised that motorcyclists must strictly use the left-most lane, while the right lane should only be used for taking turns. She also stressed that motorcyclists are prohibited from using the middle lane. "The primary cause of traffic congestion is the violation of lane discipline," Amara stated, adding that strict enforcement of traffic rules will be carried out with the assistance of Safe City cameras. Divisional SPs have been tasked with ensuring lane discipline on Mall Road, and the authorities have warned that violators will face strict consequences.
