This letter refers to the news report ‘Government to expedite process of transferring PWD’s uplift projects to provincial governments’ (September 20, 2024). The first question that comes to my mind is whether the provinces have the required capacity and expertise to run and complete these projects in a timely manner.
It may be difficult for provinces like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan to handle so many projects so suddenly given their precarious law and order situation. Such realities are hard to ignore. Unfortunately, no one is expected to take notice of the untimely fate these projects are likely to meet.
