RAWALPINDI: Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan, has accused the government of dismantling democratic institutions to extend the terms of three high-ranking officials.
In her address outside Adiala Jail on Wednesday, she expressed concern over the country’s economic and political instability, claiming the system is on the verge of collapse.
“The entire system is being dismantled just to extend the tenure of three government officials,” she said. She criticised the government’s economic policies, suggesting they were being sacrificed for the benefit of a few, and accused authorities of widespread human rights violations.
Aleema Khan referenced the Sangjani rally and the subsequent attack on the National Assembly, claiming these events were part of a broader plan to impose martial law through what she called “legal and democratic means.” She linked recent legislative efforts to a larger agenda, accusing the government of using the legal system to cover up past wrongdoings, including the events of February 8. She implied that certain individuals were manipulating events behind the scenes, warning that any attempt to pass the controversial bill would lead to further unrest.
