LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Monday filed a petition with the Lahore High Court (LHC), seeking permission to hold a jalsa at Minar-e-Pakistan here on Sept 21. The petition, submitted by the PTI leaders Aalia Hamza and Sheikh Imtiaz Mehmood, named the Punjab government and other relevant authorities as respondents.

The petition stated that it had repeatedly been denied permission to hold rallies in Lahore on political grounds. The party’s application to the Lahore deputy commissioner for the upcoming rally had also been rejected. The party argued that it was their constitutional right to hold political gatherings and it requested the court to intervene and grant them permission to proceed with the event.
