Delivery of 2.5 lakh Kisan Cards under way, says minister

LAHORE:Punjab Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Syed M Ashiq Hussain Kirmani on Monday said so far 850,000 farmers have been registered for Kisan Cards and delivery of 250,000 cards was underway after their printing.

Speaking at Kisan Card Centre in Okara, the minister said some 500,000 cards will be delivered to farmers by October 15 and 134 centres have been established in the province at tehsil level to provide the cards to farmers.

Reviewing the arrangements at the Kisan Card Distribution Centre, he said the supply of Chief Minister Punjab Kisan Card will continue till October 15. The minister clarified that Chief Minister Kisan Card will be used for the purchase of agricultural inputs of wheat.

More than 21,000 farmers have registered in Okara and Kisan Card Delivery Centres have been established in the district. The minister said the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is taking all possible steps for agricultural development and in this regard a subsidy of Rs1million per tractor will be given under Chief Minister Punjab Green Tractor Scheme.

He said apart from this, model Agriculture Malls are being established in Bahawalpur, Multan, Sargodha and Sahiwal to provide international style facilities to farmers. He said for the first time in the country's history, the Agricultural Graduates Internship Programme was introduced under which interns will be given a monthly stipend of Rs60,000.

Commissioner Sahiwal Division Shoaib Iqbal Syed, RPO Mehboob Rasheed, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Farrukh Atique Khan, District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Rashid Hidayat and Director Agriculture Extension District Sahiwal Chaudhry Shahbaz also accompanied the minister.

Youth Affairs Dept to hold Na’at contest tomorrow

Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab will organize a Naat competition at Nishtar Park Sports Complex (NPSC) E-Library and Youth Centre on Wednesday (tomorrow) in connection with 12 Rabi-ul Awwal.

DG Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal will be the chief guest at the Na'at competition in which a large number of male and female Na'at khawans of different age groups will take part.

The registration process of Naat competition is in progress under the supervision of Director Youth Affairs Rana Nadeem Anjum. The top three position holders will be awarded cash prizes of Rs15,000, Rs12,000 and Rs10,000 respectively.
