Religious scholar, LG rep shot dead in Hangu

HANGU: A religious scholar was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Khesari Banda in Hangu district, police officials said on Monday.

They said that Maulana Muhammad Tahir Fida was coming after offering prayer when unknown armed men targeted him with automatic weapons.He sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on way to hospital.

The police registered a case on the complaint of Muhammad Tayyab, the brother of slain cleric, and started an investigation. Maulana Muhammad Tahir Fida was a social worker and chairman of the non-profit organization Spogmay Foundation.

Meanwhile, the chairman of a village council was killed and two others sustained injuries when unidentified gunmen opened fire on them in the Ghuzgarh area in Orakzai tribal district.Local police said that unidentified men opened fire on a passenger vehicle in Ghuzgarh area

As a result, village council chairman Inayatur Rahman was killed and Munsif and Salim sustained injuries.The injured were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital, Hangu.The motive behind the killing could not be ascertained.Soon after the incident, the police rushed to the spot and launched a search operation to apprehend the perpetrators.
