ISLAMABAD: The special committee meeting that continued for three hours ended without result as the government did not share the draft of constitutional amendments either with the committee or with the parliamentary parties.
The in-camera meeting of special committee was held late Sunday evening under its chairman Syed Khursheed Shah and was attended by MNAs and senators who were appointed as members of the committee, including PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar and Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan.
During the meeting, JUIF chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said how things would become clear unless the draft was shared with them.
Though law minister and attorney general briefed the committee on constitutional amendments, yet no draft was shared with the committee members.
After the meeting, when Chairman Special Committee Syed Khursheed Shah was asked about the committee meeting to be held on Monday, he said that the draft of the constitutional amendments would be shared with the committee, then the committee meeting would be held. Talking with the media, Opposition Leader Omer Ayub said the government did not share the draft with them, so how they could comment as things were not in black and white.
