Tessori awards honorary doctorate to consuls general of Iran, Bahrain

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has awarded honorary doctorate degrees to several distinguished individuals for their exceptional contributions to successful diplomacy and the promotion of international relations.

Among the recipients were Iranian Consul General Hassan Nourian and Bahrain’s Consul General Abdullah Ahmed Buqhous.

The honorary degrees were awarded by the governor at a special convocation of the Jinnah University for Women held at the Governor House.

Speaking at the event, Tessori commended the unwavering efforts of the honourees in advancing diplomacy and development. He emphasised that encouraging those who served the nation was vital to inspire others to follow suit, stating that active participation in all sectors was key to national progress.

During his address, the governor congratulated the honorary doctorate recipients, who also included Farhan Hanif, Arshad Wali Muhammad, Akram Khatoon, Haji Hanif Tayyab and Syed Nadeem Raza Sarwar. He acknowledged their outstanding efforts in enhancing international relations, successful diplomacy, and driving development, noting that their steadfast dedication deserved high praise.

He further highlighted that these individuals had not only fostered national unity through their exemplary services but also advanced the vision of national progress. Their efforts to promote dialogue, resolve conflicts and address global challenges had set remarkable standards, Tessori remarked.

Meetings with religious leaders

Meanwhile, the governor met Mufti Abdul Rahim, the head of the Jamia Tur Rasheed, at the Governor House.

During the meeting, he called for the religious scholars to spread the message of Islam from the Minbar and Mihrab. He also praised the role of the Jamia Tur Rasheed in promoting higher education.

Mufti Rahim, in turn, praised the ongoing initiatives under the governor’s leadership.

Tessori also met Maulana Bashir Farooqi, the founder of the Saylani Welfare Trust, at the Governor House.

During the meeting, the governor emphasised that welfare organisations were crucial partners of the government. He praised the Saylani Trust for its commendable role in supporting the needy and promoting higher education.

He assured the Saylani Trust founder that the Governor House would continue to extend all possible support to welfare organisations. Farooqi said the IT classes initiated under the governor's Initiative were paving the way for a brighter future for the youth.
