Constable martyred by four suspects

LAHORE : A police constable, Arshad Rauf, was martyred by four suspects within the jurisdiction of the Islampura police on Sunday.

The deceased, who was stationed at the Islampura police station, was killed while on duty with the Muhafiz Squad in the Sant Nagar area. According to police reports, the incident occurred when police officers signalled four individuals riding two motorcycles to stop for a routine check. Instead of complying, the suspects fled, prompting the officers to pursue them. During the chase, the suspects opened fire, critically wounding Constable Arshad Rauf. He was immediately rushed to Mian Munshi Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Constable Arshad Rauf of Shahdara had joined the police force in 2016. He is survived by four sisters and three brothers.

The funeral for the martyred constable was held at Police Lines, Gujjar Singh, and attended by the IG and senior officers.

The IG met with Constable Rauf’s family and assured them of full support. Earlier, the IG Punjab took notice of the incident and sought a report from CCPO Lahore. He also directed the DIG Operations to ensure immediate arrest of those responsible.
