'Charmed' co-stars share fond memories of Shannen Doherty

The cast of Charmed honored their late co-star Shannen Doherty with a special live episode of their podcast, House of Halliwell, on Saturday, September 14.

The episode featured guest Brian Austin Green, who shared fond memories of Doherty. "This sucks," Green said. "Shannen was f---ing tough. She was tough. I think of all the people in my life, she was the one that just unapologetically was Shannen."

Green continued, "I can see how it would be perceived by some people as brash, 'She's a b----' they used to say early on, which drove me nuts. I knew that she had the biggest heart of everyone I knew, and she never intentionally set out to hurt anyone... she just truly believed in what it is she believed."

Doherty had initially planned to attend the 90s Con event, where the podcast recording took place. Instead, the cast turned the moment into a celebration of her life. Drew Fuller, who co-starred with Doherty, said, "We flipped the moment into a celebration of life."

Dorian Gregory, another co-star, shared his memories of Doherty, saying, "The beauty and vibrancy of this woman, that's something I have no words for... She leaves us with this: cherish every second of everyone you're surrounded by and you love. That's such a gift."

Rose McGowan also spoke about Doherty's fierce love for her fans, saying, "She had the heart of a g------ lion... What a powerhouse." McGowan remembered their first meeting and how Doherty navigated challenges, saying, "Seeing how she navigated — and how I've had to navigate — when people smear your reputation and create this box you can't f---ing get out of and it's not at all who you are."

Dozens of audience members shared their own memories of Doherty, describing her sweet disposition, her willingness to listen, and how she inspired them.

Shannen Doherty passed away on July 13 after a long battle with cancer. She was 53.
