LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed placing a ban on the export of raw pink salt. “Pink salt is like a treasure trove for Pakistan,” she said while chairing a meeting to review proposals on getting maximum revenue from the export of pink salt.

She directed authorities to prepare a plan for setting up a value-added industry for pink salt. She sought a comprehensive plan on improvement in the export of pink salt. She also directed ensuring safety of mining workers and considered a proposal to use modern technology for the extraction of minerals in Punjab. Punjab Information and Culture Minister Azma Bukhari, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Principal Secretary to CM Sajid Zafar Dal and Secretary Minerals Babar Aman Babar attended the meeting. Meanwhile, Maryam expressed grief over the death of two on-duty policemen after being hit by a bus in Gujarat. She offered condolences to the bereaved families. She also directed investigations and strict action against the responsible.
