QUETTA: In the mining area of Shahrag, Balochistan, five miners died due to a buildup of toxic gas in a coalmine, while one was rescued alive.

According to the details, in the Harnai area of Balochistan, six labourers were trapped inside a coalmine belonging to Malik Coal Company, contracted by Haji Shah Muhammad. Rescue operations began immediately after the incident was reported. One labourer, Khan Muhammad, was successfully rescued from the mine, but efforts to save the remaining five miners were unsuccessful.

The bodies of the five deceased miners, who had succumbed to the toxic gas, were recovered. The deceased miners were identified as Rahman Shah son of Abdul Ghafoor, Shafiullah son of Abdul Ghafoor, Naseebullah son of Badam Gul, Zubair Allah son of Muhammad Azim, and Matiullah son of Abdul Nafay.

The deceased miners were reportedly from various areas in Afghanistan, and their bodies will be sent to their native regions after legal formalities are completed.
