Hundred wheelchairs, stretchers donated to LGH

LAHORE : Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) Principal Prof. Dr. Al-Fareed Zafar has said that the people who donate for the comfort and welfare of patients are the real asset of the society. This is our collective social responsibility and there is big incentive for such great persons who contributed towards suffering humanity in multiple ways.

He expressed these views while talking on the occasion of receiving donations of 100 wheelchairs and as many stretchers for the patients in the Emergency Department of Lahore General Hospital by Muslim Hands Organisation.

MS Dr Faryad Hussain, Director Muslim Hands Organisation Khalid Mehmood Qureshi, Dr Adnan Masood, Dr Jafar Hussain, Dr Abdul Aziz and health professionals were also present.

Prof Al-Fareed highlighted that in hospitals where health professionals are trying to save human lives through their professional responsibilities, these donations contributed a lot to this effort.

Prof Al-Fareed Zafar directed the LGH administration to immediately ensure the registration of donations in the stock register. Record keeping is the first duty of the administration and there should not be any delay in this regard, he added. He said that all over the world, NGOs perform services alongside the government for social welfare.

He said that it is a matter of happiness that welfare organisations in Pakistan are playing their full role especially in hospitals due to which the best medical facilities are being provided to the patients and their families coming from far away.

MS Dr Faryad Hussain said that the induction of such a large number of wheelchairs and stretchers in the hospital system will make it easier for patients to be transferred from vehicles to the Emergency Department for treatment and public complaints will also be resolved in this regard.
