ISLAMABAD: Leader of Opposition in the Senate Syed Shibli Faraz has written a letter to the Senate Chairman, seeking separate seating arrangements to the government and the opposition members.
It was learnt that after contacting Senate Chairman Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, the opposition leader has also written a letter to him. Shibli Faraz has said that the members of the ruling parties should be removed from the opposition benches, and separate seats should be allotted to the government and the opposition lawmakers.
He said that PTI is the largest party in the Senate, and members of the largest party were given back seats in the House.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf senior leader and ex-NA speaker Asad Qaiser Friday alleged that the government is preparing to enact the worst constitutional amendments in history, trampling over parliamentary traditions to control the judiciary.
In a statement, he contended that the government is also hiding the draft amendments from its allies. He pointed out that according to parliamentary traditions, any amendment to the constitution was previously made in the interest of the public.
“Unfortunately, this illegitimate government is using Parliament as a shield merely to preserve its unjust mandate. The government does not even have a two-third majority for constitutional amendments and is trying to secure it by abducting our members,” he noted. PTI leader made it clear, “We will strongly resist these fake amendments and attacks on the judiciary both in Parliament and among the public.
