Top official sources told The News on Friday that the Afghan consul general visited Ali Amin Gandapur in Peshawar and reportedly had discussions on contentious issues.

As per the directives and standard operational procedures (SOPs), the CG had to inform the Foreign Office/Protocol Division about such meeting in advance. However, he failed in fulfilling the obligation. On the other side, the chief minister was required to seek guidelines for such meeting from the Foreign Office to discuss the matter by staying within the confines of the Foreign Policy.

Sources said the KP government failed in observing the norms and rules in this regard.

The Afghan administration and its embassy haven’t submitted any report or explanation yet about the meeting. Foreign Office spokesperson Ms. Mumtaz Zehra Baloch wasn’t available for her comments Friday afternoon since her phone wasn’t responding.
