According to an FIA spokesperson, accused Akhtar Cheema, Abdul Qadir and M Usman were wanted by the FIA in human trafficking cases. The spokesman said Akhtar was arrested from Gujrat as he received Rs200,000 from a man in 2015 on the pretext of sending him abroad, while Abdul Qadir and Usman were detained from Sheikhupura as they were found involved in illegally sending people abroad for employment. Accused Usman received Rs600,000 from a citizen to send him to Oman on a work visa. Two Pakistani passports with visa stickers were recovered from the accused.
