Young man killed, nine injured in car crash in Defence

A young man was killed and nine others were injured after an Audi collided head-on with a Shehzore truck near the crossing of Saba Avenue and Khayaban-e-Faisal in DHA Phase VII on Thursday morning, according to a statement issued by the District South SSP’s office.

Police impounded both vehicles. Aminuddin, who was driving the Audi, remained unhurt and was arrested. However, one of the 10 people in the truck was killed and the remaining were injured. The deceased was identified as Aftab Gul Hassan, 20, and the injured as Muhammad Hassan, 25, Muhammad Tariq, 25, Shoaib, 28, Abdul Qadir, 30, Farman, 30, Hammad, 30, Mashook Khan, 35, Ghulam Mohammad, 35, and Ghulam Shabbir, 35.

Police handed over the body of the deceased to his family members, while most of the injured were discharged after being treated at the hospital. The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. An FIR was registered and investigation is under way.

Other accidents

Fayyaz Khan, 40, was killed in a road traffic accident near Paracha Chowk in the Sher Shah area. His body was taken to Dr Ruth KM Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, from where it was handed over to his family.

In another road traffic accident, Hassan Khan, 60, was killed in Block-15 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar. The body of the deceased man was taken to a nearby hospital.

Separately, an unidentified youth died of electrocution near Thursday Bazaar in Allah Bakhsh Goth on Super Highway. His body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Police said the youth was addicted to drugs, adding that he was cutting an electric wire when he was electrocuted. Officials said the body was shifted to cold storage.
