ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister and Awam Pakistan Party Chairman Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said the black laws being formulated by the so-called democratic government have not been witnessed even during the dictatorial regimes.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said the government fearing the opposition was making blind and black laws for a rally.
There is no democracy even in the Pakistan’s capital and members of National Assembly and Senate were made hostage at the hands of an SHO and a deputy commissioner. A political party was allowed to hold a rally on September 8 and what happened before, during and after that reflected the political traditions of the country.
He said the rally was scheduled to be held outside Islamabad, but the government shut down half of Islamabad, the internet was slowed down on that day and containers were placed on every road. What kind of democracy is it that the government has been confined by itself?
He said no one spoke about the public in the speeches made during the rally, only accusations and insults were made. The language used by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister is not acceptable and if it is not condemned, the right to democracy is not ensured. “When you are in a responsible constitutional position, every word you speak matters, people see and it reflects your party.”
