Pakistan athletes disappoint at South Asian Championship

KARACHI: Pakistan’s athletes had a disappointing start at the 4th South Asian Junior Athletics Championship in Chennai, India, with subpar performances on the opening day.

Competing in various events, four Pakistani athletes failed to make a significant impact. In the women’s high jump, Aiza Ahmed could not clear the opening height of 1.50 meters, resulting in an early exit from the competition.

In the men’s 100-meter heats, Ammar Ibrahim Afridi finished last in his race with a time of 12.69 seconds, while Muhammad Husnain managed a fourth-place finish in his heat, clocking in at 11.32 seconds. Both athletes failed to qualify for the finals. In the men’s 800-meter race, Muhammad Shahid concluded the day with a time of 2:10.17, being theat the last position on the track.
