KARACHI: Gas & Oil Pakistan Ltd (GO) will be able to finalize the sites by end of this month to be taken over by Aramco, the Saudi oil giant.“We hope that our sites would be finalized by end of this month and would be commissioned by mid-October this year, Khalid Riaz, chief executive officer (CEO) of GO told The News.

He responded to queries after GO clarified that no Aramco site has been commissioned anywhere in Pakistan so far.Earlier, Zeeshan Tayyeb, chief operating officer of GO had clarified that Aramco has not commissioned any new sites in Pakistan. This statement was in response to misleading images and reports circulating on social media.

Per Tayyeb, the circulating picture, which has been erroneously linked to Aramco’s activities in Pakistan, actually depicts a site located outside the country.“A formal announcement regarding any new developments will be made at an appropriate time,” Tayyeb had added.

Earlier this year, Aramco, a leading global energy and chemicals firm, finalized its acquisition of a 40 per cent equity stake in Gas & Oil Pakistan Ltd.
