LAHORE:Punjab health minister and education minister on Tuesday launched ‘Life Savers Initiative’ for universities and colleges by performing Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to mark World First Aid Week on World First Aid Day at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU).
Health and Emergency Services Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said Rescue 1122 has launched the lifesaver programme to train university and college students in life-saving skills. The initiative aims to equip youth with the ability to provide first aid in emergencies like cardiac arrests and accidents, significantly increasing the chances of saving lives. The minister praised commended the efforts of Secretary Emergency Services Dr Rizwan Naseer and the university's collaboration in this important mission.
Education Minister Rana Sikandar expressed his pleasure to witness this historic event at Lahore College for Women University and ensured that this programme would be expanded to all universities and colleges of Punjab.
On this occasion, Parliamentary Secretary Zia Ullah Shah appreciated the enthusiasm of the students and instructors. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rizwan Naseer said ‘Lifesavers Initiative’ to mark World First Aid Week would be a historic initiative for motivating youth of colleges and universities to become lifesavers by getting training on essential lifesaving skills of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Bleeding Control.
LCWU Vice Chancellor Dr Uzma Qureshi said ‘We are honored that LCWU has been selected for launching of this historic initiative. Earlier, students demonstrated life-saving skills, including CPR and bleeding control.
NMU approves modular integrated curriculum for MBBS
The 15th syndicate meeting of Nishtar Medical University was held in the Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education under the chairmanship of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique.
Nishtar Medical University VC Prof Mahnaz Khakwani, KEMU Vice Chancellor Prof Mehmood Ayaz, Registrar, Special Secretary Higher Education Department Zahida Azhar, Prof Dr Asif Ali and officers of other departments participated as syndicate members through a video link conference.
The University Registrar presented the agenda in the syndicate meeting. Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique confirmed the decisions of the 14th meeting of Nishtar Medical University.
Modular integrated curriculum for MBBS classes was approved during the syndicate meeting. Apart from approval of all MD/MS programmes, Nishtar Medical University also approved to adopt and implement HEC Anti-Plagiarism Policy.
The minister said that quality research is being promoted in the medical universities of Punjab. The revamping project of Nishtar Hospital Multan was directed to be completed on priority basis.
