MULTAN: A division bench of the Lahore High Court Multan Bench, comprising Justice Shahid Karim and Justice Muhammad Raza Qureshi, has sought an explanation from the Agricultural Development Bank, Alipur (Muzaffargarh district), regarding how a loan was granted to a child. The court questioned how a loan was approved for a 13-and-a-half-year-old child.
The court also directed the bank to clarify its position in the matter. The petitioner, Irshad Hussain, through his counsel Mian Muhammad Shafi Murali and Muhammad Kashif Raza Rana, argued that the banking court’s decision against him was made without reviewing the records properly. His birth certificate, educational certificate, and current CNIC clearly show that he was a child in 1995 when a loan of Rs395,000 was sanctioned in his name to purchase a tractor. The counsel contended that the loan could not have been legally issued in his name then and that the bank staff is now attempting to make him a scapegoat to cover up their misconduct.
